Data Management

Data Management

Collier & Associates has helped many clients get their “house of data” in order via several services:

Data Corporatization™

We coined the term “Data Corporatization™” in 2005 to describe how core master data should be contained within a master store, and managed within the corporate system blueprint.

Benefits of Corporatizing Data include:

• Reducing redundancy; thus, reducing time and costs;

• Increasing the integrity, reliability, and availability of data;

• Increasing the security of data and information;

• Reducing risk of sensitive data leaking to employees, competitors, and others;

• Protecting government regulated data.

A few examples of how Data Corporatization has helped our clients achieve the following:

• More than 50% reduction in manual maintenance of global, integrated Product Data Management (Inventoried Items, Bills of Materials, Routings, and Costs) electronic transfer updates;

• More than 90% reduction in order kitting maintenance; thus drastically improving customer order taking time and accuracy;

• Job estimating reduction from several days to a month, to less than four hours;

• Manufacturing factory job status reporting reduced from one week to less than a shift, with an increase in accuracy by more than 90%;

• Integrated planning and scheduling based on corporatized data resulting in the first Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday weekends off for the factory workforce in the company’s 20 year history.

Standards

Integral to providing consistent services and products are standards. Standards are a mechanism for communication, planning, storage, retrieval, execution, analysis, feedback, and refinement.

We help clients create data standards for:

• Services

• Products / Items / SKUs

• Bills of Materials

• Routings

• Work / Operating Procedures

• Workflow

• Product Costs

• Activity Rules

• Decision Rules

• Standard Operating Procedures

Aligning systems with core business process is necessary for efficient operations. However, data structure is often not a consideration. Collier & Associates believes the lack of data structure design is a major design flaw that ultimately results in significant efficiency and cost issues. Therefore, we use data structures to enhance system alignment with core processes, often overcoming the many limitations surrounding COTS (Commercial Off The Shelf Software) such as ERP, CRM, and Project Planning software.
